Cal/OSHA Awareness for Construction

    Cal/OSHA Awareness for Construction

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, mandates workplace safety standards for many industries, including construction, at the federal level. In California, however, state-level OSHA standards exceed federal regulations, and employers and employees must comply with these more stringent rules. Cal/OSHA for Construction provides an introduction to the standards created by the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), commonly referred to as Cal/OSHA, to help ensure the safety of all construction workers across the state.

    Course Objectives

Cal/OSHA for Construction addresses key aspects of Cal/OSHA requirements for construction workers’ safety. Course topics include:

    • The mission of DOSH, also referred to as Cal/OSHA
    • Cal/OSHA regulations for construction sites and workers
    • The stricter nature of California state-level laws
    • Special considerations for worker safety and health standards
    • Creating and documenting a written Code of Safe Practices
    • Injury and illness prevention programs
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

After completing this introductory online course, students will understand the rights and responsibilities of construction workers who are subject to Cal/OSHA regulations.

    Course Audience

Cal/OSHA for Construction is appropriate for all individuals employed or employing workers in California-based construction workplaces that are subject to state and federal OSHA standards, including managers, supervisors, and workers.

NOTICE: You should not take this course if you are a construction employer, manager, supervisor, or employee outside of California. For those employed or employing workers in general industry fields in California, please see our Cal/OSHA: An Introduction course.
